Grows the use of food supplements

The industry of food supplements, especially multivitamins, registers positive signals - due to the arrival of warm weather. It is demonstrated by a Nielsen survey conducted on pharmacies, parapharmacies, supermarkets and hypermarkets that last year the market grew 12%, reaching about 1.6 billion euros of sales in the year ending in March 2010, over 120 million packages (+8% in the year). A growing market, therefore, also because of word of mouth among consumers mostly online, who use the network as a vehicle for advice and comparisons between different products, even before the purchase. Analysis of the volume of online buzz on food supplements, made by BuzzMetrics, the Nielsen service specializing in quali-quantitative measurement of the digital word of mouth, counts over 10 thousand debates generated by users in the last three months of 2010. Even more interesting the trends analysis: compared with over 5500 messages of 2008 the volume of online discussions is therefore almost doubled (+83%), about 700 messages more than last year.
